Meet Gus Gus!
Gus is a purebred Olde English Bulldogge, and is around 2.5 years old. OEBs make great companions, and while they do have a wonderful sense of humor, they are also pretty lazy and easy going.
Gus is a handsome fellow that is currently in desperate need surgery- he has a condition called Entropion, which causes his eyelids to fold inward, making the hair on (what should be) the outside of the eyelid rub against his eye, causing severe irritation and conjunctivitis, poor guy!
He is currently being treated with antibiotic eye ointment, but that will not correct the issue- it will only help to alleviate some of the irritation in the eye, and provide some protection from the hair scratching the eye. If left untreated (ointment and surgery), it can lead to scarring on the eye, and may lead to blindness.
Because of the severity of his case, we are considering him in URGENT need of surgery, and have started a GoFundMe page to help with his surgery costs.
We ask that even if you are not able to make a contribution, please do share his information- by sharing his page, you can help advocate for contributions to help get his surgery done as quickly as possible!
Surgery date and information will be posted as soon as we have half of the surgery costs covered so we can schedule it.

- Please note that because our shelter is located in southern Illinois, about 3 hours south of Champaign, our animals are available for adoption in Champaign only during scheduled events, and are available in Murphysboro, IL between events, by appointment.
